בכאב עמוק אנו מודיעים על פטירתו של מורנו, ידידנו, בעל האתר: שלמה בן-אברהם ז״ל, המייסד ועורך ראשי של מכון־ממרא. איש נעים ותלמיד חכמים שהתעמק מאד במשנתו של הרמב״ם, הוא משך רבים לדרכו ה״אמצעי״ של מורנו הרמב״ם ז״ל. מתגעגעים אליך, מורנו!
הוא עמל שנים רבות בבניית תוכן האתר הזה, במטרה להפיץ בחינם לרבים את הטקסט המדויק ביותר של משנה תורה להרמב״ם והתנ״ך. אנחנו שמתחזקים את האתר, ממשיכים את דרכו כמיטב יכולותינו.
לזכרו הקמנו קרן לתמיכה במשפחות בנות עשרה ילדים ומעלה: ”קרן העשרה“. בכך אנו מגשימים את אהבתו לילדים שלא זכה להם. אנו מזמינים אתכם להיות שותפים במיזם המבורך הזה, ולתרום כנדבת ליבכם למשפחות הללו, באחת הדרכים הבאות:

With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of our friend and teacher Shelomo ben Avraham, z"l, the originator and principal contributor of Mechon Mamre. His kindness and deep knowledge of Rambam's Mishneh Torah inspired many students to follow in his path. He is sorely missed.
He spent many decades building this site’s contents, with the goal of providing the most accurate text of Mishne Torah and Tana”kh to the public at large, free of charge. We, the maintainers of the site he created, continue his legacy to the best of our ability.
In his memory, we have established a fund for the support of families with ten or more children, “Keren HaAsara”, by means of which we intend to realize his love for children, and the family he didn’t merit to establish. We invite you to participate in this blessed effort, and to donate as able to the families.
